Why hydraulic on a 7FA outage

The GE 7FA is the workhorse of the US combined-cycle fleet. Every Combustion Inspection, every Hot Gas Path Inspection, every Major — the casing has to come off and go back on, with bolt loads that conventional torque can’t deliver evenly.

Impact and torque-only methods stretch studs unevenly, mark the joint surfaces and create misalignment that costs you on the next inspection. Hydraulic tensioning loads every stud uniformly, in parallel, and leaves the joint ready to seal on first re-light.

We bring the kit, the pump, the body-bound bolt pullers and the operators. You get the casing closed faster and cleaner.

Frequently asked questions

Can you work alongside our prime contractor?

Yes. Our scope is the casing tensioning operation — your prime keeps overall outage coordination, crane services and disassembly/reassembly outside the bolt scope.

Do you supply consumables (lubricants, anti-seize)?

Yes, included in the fixed-price quote.

What if our bolts are non-standard or oversized?

Send us the bolt schedule before the PO. The kit covers 1″ to 2-1/4″ 8UN — anything outside that range, we’ll evaluate before the visit.

Do you provide pre-outage planning support?

Yes. Our TFA lead reviews your unit history and casing schedule before mobilization.

What documentation do we receive?

Pre-job safety pack, calibration certificates, real-time pressure logs, and a final service report with as-found/as-left conditions and torque/tension values.
